Adventures in baby sleeping

So Holly's bizarre sleeping patterns continue. Some nights she goes to bed easy at 6:30pm, and except for brief fussing to be brought to our bed for a midnight snack, she stays asleep all night until 6am. Some nights none or only some of these things are true. Some days she falls asleep easy for naps and gets two good naps per day (9-10am, 1-3pm). Some days none or only some of this is true. Every day, every night, every moment is an adventure in baby sleeping and we don't know what we'll get. We've tried to discover patterns. Sought advice from everyone and read all the books. We've tried just about every suggestion we've received with the exception of the ones we disagree with. We've joked that we should try tea leaves or seek the assistance of an oracle---because none of those things are helping. The only pattern we've found is that there is no pattern.

Here's one night for example, she fell asleep easy at 6:30pm clearly exhausted (despite two excellent naps during the day totaling more than 3 hours) and slept until 10pm. Came to bed demanding milk and slept fitfully with us until midnight when we moved her back to the Pack N Play. At 2am she woke up angry with a squishy diaper. After the change she was clearly tired, but wouldn't go back to sleep until 4:30am and slept until 6am. I should note that she was yelling and jamming her finger in her mouth for much of this, so we gave her Acetaminophen assuming it was teething. Who the heck knows though?!?!

Other than the anger we experience before she goes to sleep, Holly is still a remarkably happy baby. She has a few more foods under her belt (or should I say onesie) including peas, carrots, apples, zucchini, yogurt and oat cereal. Pears and peas are still her favorite and I think her favorite days are when she has pears for breakfast and peas for dinner. Because of a fear that perhaps her high fiber diet is causing tummy upset, tonight she had yogurt with bananas. She frequently finishes the 1oz bowl and she could probably eat more. We plan to move to 3 meals per day after we travel next week. She loves to play on her mat all day long. She wiggles around on her belly but still can't crawl. She was watching Dylan with fascination yesterday as he made his way (as long as the camera wasn't on) across his play mat in a full-scale crawl.

We're headed out next weekend for my work's annual meeting with some visiting of friends and family thrown in to boot. Photos of Holly meeting cousins, aunts and uncles coming your way but it may take a while until our life settles down a bit so I can post again. As a final note, operation date-night for our Anniversary went well (thanks, Chelsea!) and we look forward to 9 more years and counting.
