So here are the vital stats you've all been waiting for:
Weight: 21lbs 9 oz
Height: 27 1/4 inches
HC: 44.1
Yep, she's still in the 90th percentile on all of her stats. For an indication of where she's at, this is a photo of Holly hanging out with other babies in the neighborhood. That's a 9 month old she's hanging out with. That's a 5.5 month old sitting in the background on her mom's lap. All the babies in this photo are 100% breastfed with the exception of the tiny baby in the background who was a super premie (her mama was pre-eclamptic) born 7 weeks early and had to have a bit of formula in the early days.
The report from the doctor is that she's healthy, happy and doing great on all of her milestones. We knew that already, but it's always nice to hear the doctor say it. The doctor said he rarely sees a 6 month old who can sit up so well. And he loved the fact that she was so happy and full of smiles. We talked to him a bit about her "sleeping is for chumps" phase (which she happily seems to be transitioning out of) and he laughed and said that none of his three kids slept through the night until they were over 12 months---so perhaps he was a bad person to ask. Holly got all the same vaccines (DTaP, Hib, Pneumococcal and Rotavirus). This is the last of her human pincushion visits. Her next appointment (assuming no illness) is at 9 month and she'll only have one vaccine at that point.
So, after a little nursing in the office to quell her anger, we headed home and she promptly fell asleep in the car. Once home, we moved her to her bed and she snoozed while I went to work. The report from Chelsea is that she had a normal day playing and sleeping. As I type this, she's hanging out with Tigger on her play mat and trying to reach the keyboard. In short, all's well with Holly!
In other news, today is the first day of my "staycation" which means I'm taking a few days off from work to spend hanging out with Holly and helping Tom with a few happy homeowner things in our neglected house. It's becoming summer already here and I was happy to get advice from the doctor on critical things like mosquito repellent and sun screen for the babe. Holly ate sweet potatoes for her second solid food and the doctor suggested we give her a bit of rice cereal so she can have a bit of iron in her diet. This weekend, I think we're moving on to avocados. Frank (the cat) is still having problems with his tummy and we're going to try a different vet since our current vet is flummoxed. Our farm share has started and we're enjoying some lovely greens, asparagus and strawberries. Now I need to go play with my baby...
So glad to hear all is well in your part of the world!
