My trip out of the country was postponed for a bit (yahoo!) but we're still staying busy. This weekend was our 10th wedding anniversary and we decided to return to our traditional way of celebrating --- travel. We took a short vacation back to NYC to visit old friends, hand off a baby shower gift, show Holly the sites and have a night out on the town while our darling Shannon (and Sara) babysat. We had a lovely time!
Holly was fantastic throughout the trip. I mean, don't get me wrong, she's still a toddler! We had some not so fun moments - for example - when she threw herself on the floor of the LaGuardia Airport declaring, "No! Don't like it!" when we had to stand in line to board the plane. Something I can personally sympathize with, but was really not so helpful or hygienic. But outside of these typical toddler moments, she was happy and soaking everything in. A girl who is used to a 1400 sq ft house with a giant backyard, adapted quite well to a much smaller NYC apartment within walking distance of Central Park.
She loved hanging out with "Annon" and playing "1-2-3 kerplunk" on the air mattress that Shannon so sweetly slept on while we took over her bedroom. She brunched with friends. Explored the Highline. Took the ferry over to Staten Island (and back). Rode the Subway like a champ. Played in the water at the playground at 100th and CPW as the temperature rose over 90. She also fast fell asleep in an uptown cab when her mean parents kept her out until well after 2pm, which is very clearly nap time. She ate Chinese food, diner food, picnicked in Central Park (while chasing geese) and brunched in Chelsea Market. I think she's earned her rights to city girl. For our part, we loved being back in the city and seeing our dear friends. We had a lovely night out at an UWS wine bar with some yummy cheese toasting the next 10 years (and the 10 after that and the 10 after that...). But we're very happy to be back in our house.
More travel to come!
