Leaps and bounds

In this photo, Holly is 4 months- 3 weeks and one day. Has it really been that long since she joined our lives? Our little bundle is now a bundle of energy and growing by leaps and bounds. She wants to touch and feel everything around her. We bought her a high chair (which she loves) and some baby dishes (so they can hit the floor as many times as she wants) and we're getting ready for the introduction of solid foods when she's 6 months old. She's already fascinated by our cups, glasses and bottles. She reaches out when we put food in our mouths. I think she's probably ready, but our pediatrician says we don't need to rush and he really doesn't recommend anything but breast milk for her until she's 6 months. I'm in no hurry. Chelsea recommended this great website and I've been reading up on what and how to cook for a little person. A few of her leaps and bounds as she nears the 5 month mark:

• She's bound to get that darn tooth any day now. We see it, we feel it and she's got the classic symptoms. We've joked about renaming her "Droolie".
• Last night she acquired baby's first bruise when she took a flying leap off Tom's lap and hit her head on the Pack N Play. Five minutes later, she was laughing and smiling. Her parents on the other hand...
• We're also taking a great leap forward in terms of Holly's sleeping arrangements. We're putting Holly to bed before us (swaddled up like a baby burrito) in the Pack N Play every night and then when she wakes up we bring her to bed with us (which usually occurs around 2am). It was a bit odd the first night to go to sleep without her in the bed. But now we're rather used to the idea.
